Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging season, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the American major.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term coach Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his first championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after March of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his ability to compete at the top level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional championship, took control to force a third set.

He defended four initial chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
